CTEC is the organization that
registers tax preparers, the second largest
segment of tax preparation professionals serving
the state, following certified public
accountants. Anyone who, for a fee, assist with
or prepares a state or federal income tax return
(excluding certain categories of professionals)
must be registered with CTEC. Additionally, the
Council is charged with approving providers of
education, maintaining and distributing a list
of those providers and verifying educational
credentials of the applicants.
This is an
immense responsibility and Advocation prides
itself on the delivery of services it has
provided to the Council for the last eight
years. Responsibility for administering CTEC
entails processing 35,000 applications,
approving educational institutions, arranging
four board meetings a year throughout the state
and marketing its services and functions to the
thousands of preparers in California. Advocation
performs all of the above-mentioned functions
out of its offices at 1121 L Street. Because of
our demonstrated ability with the management of
CTEC, we believe we are well suited to
administer any association on behalf of any
client.
